A delightful recipe book for pork chops that has 19 different recipes. There are three that I selected right off the bat to make. The Pork Chop Dinner, the Pork Chop Casserole and the Pork Chop with Broccoli.

I made the Pork Chop with Broccoli last night and it is outstanding. Basically, cheddar cheese (Vermont, of course), broccoli, hash browns, milk, sour cream, olive oil and medium onion. Prep time is 20 minutes and cook time 55 minutes.

Will update this when I make some of the others.

This book was way more than I expected! The recipes are great and the layout was amazing! I have never enjoyed just looking through a cook book like I have with this book. All my friends love flipping through it and getting inspired. The color, the presentation the easy to follow instructions and all the extra information is worth every penny. As the organizer of James Dean's Last Drive I can say that this is more than just a cook book or a book for James Dean fans. About the Author
Chef Trevis L. Gleason has been an award winning culinarian, consultant, and instructor. A decorated U.S. Coast Guard veteran and former U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Goodwill Ambassador to Ukraine, Chef Trevis has been acknowledged with several awards for his Life With MS Blog. In 2012 he was ranked as the #1 Online Influence on the topic of multiple sclerosis and also named the Jimmie Heuga MS Can Do Person of the Year. Retired from a distinguished culinary career, Gleason has taken on the challenges of living with secondary-progressive multiple sclerosis since his diagnosis in 2001. He is an ambassador for the National MS Society, an active volunteer for Multiple Sclerosis Ireland and the MS Society of the UK, and speaks to groups, both large and small, about living life fully with or without a chronic illness. Trevis gets to show his considerable storytelling acumen

I had previously known Trevis Gleason only as the popular blogger at Life With Multiple Sclerosis. Within the constraints of this platform, he dispenses his wisdom, humor, and charm in 500 word snippets. But in Chef Interrupted Trevis throws off the shackles of forced brevity and reveals his considerable storytelling acumen.

When Trevis sent me, a fellow MS blogger, an advance copy, I devoured the book in no time at all. It's a delightful read for anyone who longs to find meaning by going back to their roots, in this case his ancestral homeland of Ireland.

In this memoir, Trevis expertly blends an array of themes into a seamless mosaic. His stories are about realizing the dream to become immersed in rural Ireland, if only for three months (in this book). It's about the connections he made with the people and with the land, and experiences he shared with folks from home who dropped in and out of his life, and his rented cottage, during that time. It's about a fondness for good food and drink, and a loyal, furry companion. And yes, it's about living a full life despite a debilitating disease.

You'll think a little differently about multiple sclerosis and about the Emerald Isle after seeing them through Trevis's eyes.

A Wonderful Read for All

This book might be about a man with multiple sclerosis but that’s just the side story! It’s really about living life fully and reaching for your dreams. It’s a delightful read about Ireland, people, the joy of having a dog and a chef’s passion for food. He also kindly shares recipes. It’s a great read for any and all. I felt so sad when the book ended. I hope Trevis writes another one soon.

Good read for those wanting a window into a simpler life

I'm almost done with this book and I like it. He even includes some very authentic recipes that I am wanting to try. But I love most the author's descriptions of the quaint life he has chosen and the virtues of turning off the madness of the world in search of a simpler time. Sometimes he gets too heavy into the irish way of phrasing things and its difficult to follow. But it all lends to the charm of his experiences.

Great French Food!

As someone who does not do a lot of cooking, I have always been a fan of the slow cooker as it provides me with an easy way to throw together a meal and get going. I picked this book up because I have always been interested in French cooking and so far, I've been very pleased! The book instructions and guidelines for each recipe are incredibly clear and easy to follow and the ingredients are not very hard to find.

I particularly appreciated the short background info the author gave on slow cooking and french cooking - I now have a better understanding of both.

This book is an excellent buy for anyone looking to make awesome tasting and eye-appeasing French food without much effort!

Very disappointing

As I have just purchased a slow cooker I am looking for recipes that provide the advertised healthy and low fat dinners. Unfortunately this cookbook had too many recipes that included canned soups and packaged mixes, exactly what I Didn't want! I will continue my quest for slow cooker recipes with healthy natural ingredients

From little grains come delicious recipes.

This guide to cooking rice the Indian way by Kumar is a one-stop shop on cooking rice. As I read it on my Kindle, I wrote up (and later printed out) two recipes to try which require little cooking. Kumar spells out the ingredients in full and gives 3 ways of cooking it, either in a pressure cooker, a pan or a rice cooker. Like his other books, Kumar gives the preparation time and the total time so one knows how long each recipe will take. Kumar is very thorough and repeats some steps to make it easier for a Kindle reader. All in all, a worthwhile cookery book for newbies and old hands.

A Must for Chocolate Enthusiasts and Culinary Historians!

A wonderful volume for those interested in culinary history, this reprint of a period receipt book contains a sampling of nineteenth century beliefs regarding chocolates health and medicinal properties as well as many recipes that will appeal to the modern cook. Applewood Books divides the book into two sections: the first contains the overview of chocolate making and its supposed nutritive value, while the second contains the actual recipes. The book could benefit from an introduction from a modern historian, explaining the importance and biographies of the various sources for the first section of the book and discussing how some of these medical facts came about, but the original nineteenth century authors left enough in their citations that interested readers can do the necessary research themselves.
