I love this book

I love this book. It is well written, funny and very succinct. It gives seven good and very easy to understand lessons followed by seven recipes. I have been cooking all my life and it taught me things I didn't know. It is not overwhelming and would be perfect for anyone entering into the realm of cooking. In fact I first bought 2 books as gifts for two of my nephews who were moving out on their own for the first time. My nephews both loved the book. So far, the "Sex with a Steak" and "Grilled Chaka's Salmon" are their favorite recipes. I highly recommend this book for anyone who feels intimidated by cooking, or to anyone who wants to try some new "kick-ass" recipes.

Awesome Cookbook for So Many Reasons! :-)

I have to say that this is one of the most perfect cookbooks I have ever found for Housewarming and dinner party gifts. Through in a bottle of wine and your ready to go!!!! It's perfect for the coffee table as well as every level of cooking enthusiast. I had purchased a half dozen just to use for those reasons. Everyone I gave one to absolutely loved it!
I have owned 2 Kitchen stores with cooking classes and we used to sell every kind of cookbook imaginable. I wish this was available then!

YES! YES! YES! "Sex With A Steak"!!!
One of the best dividends of giving this book as a gift is that the people I've cooked for for years are FINALLY inviting me to their place for a meal - and impressively delicious ones at that! That being said, I'll back track and admit I was drawn to this book because of its caustic title and yummy-looking dish pictured on the front (not in that order). I bought copies as gifts for non-cook friends as we've a standing joke about their never inviting me for a meal because they feel intimidated by my cooking and they, "don't know how to cook" and are afraid of “f**ing things up”. I do know my way around a kitchen and didn't expect to learn much in the deeper perusal read I took before giving the books away; I was wrong and stand corrected. I learned updated techniques – my microwave can be my friend - and came away recognizing my own weak links and where I could make my life easier in the kitchen.
Truly the best part though has been hearing the excitement of my NOW COOKING friends! No, wait - Actually the BEST part is FINALLY being invited over for delicious meals being prepared in their once unused glorious kitchens – they’re actually using their pristine wedding gifts! YAY! And YAY to Bad Aunty for displacing fear with momentum-for-learning by writing a cookbook that is easy, conversational, informative, down-to-earth and sassy. AND TASTY!
The other day my (formerly non-chef) friend was CHOPPING SHALLOTS (can’t believe I can write that!) making the Chicken Tarragon with Cream Sauce (without even looking at the recipe!) and wondered what kind of recipes would be in the next Bad Aunty cookbook! We might be inclined to start a Bad Aunty Fan Club as it’s just fun to say, but mostly because it's brought not only cooking to their kitchens but a new and fun dimension to our friendships because food is such a great thing to share. Meals are now taking place at THEIR homes, not just mine. I'll be happy to see more from Bad Aunty but in the meantime, a couple of college-age nephews and nieces can guess what they’ll be getting for Christmas…
